Although English grammar rules remain the same for everyone, the basic to advanced courses divide them into three categories for easy understanding and learning. The key topics include nouns, prepositions, subject-verb agreement, voices, rules for narration, tenses, adjectives, pronouns, conditionals, adverbs, and verbs.
However, each course differentiates grammar based on knowledge and aptitude. Additionally, the English beginner and intermediate courses target new learners or people that want to brush up their knowledge. Meanwhile, an advanced English course is meant for competitive examinees, corporate employees, and people looking for a promotion.
The 3 Levels of English Grammar
● Basic
English beginners should include verbs, pronouns, possessiveness, present simple tense, nouns, articles, demonstratives, determiners, permissions, requests, basic comparatives, past simple tense, spelling, pronunciation, references, and future tense.
The objective of the FCE beginner level is to refresh knowledge of the language and teach the basic grammar principles. The first level is always the toughest to crack; however, it gets easier with lesson plans and experienced teachers.
Moreover, a basic level of English is helpful for people that want to crack interviews with certification and speaking skills. Besides this, it helps in corporate communication and raises the social standard in society, especially for homemakers.
● Intermediate
English for intermediate level learners should include adjectives, dual meaning adverbs, gerunds, infinitives, verb patterns, clauses, question tags, past perfect tense, modals, time expressions, linking phrases, and verbs.
It should even consist of vocabulary, punctuation, spelling, & grammar difference between American and British English. This level of English is compatible with FCE or the Cambridge English: First exam or the Cambridge First Certificate.
FCE intermediate level is helpful for people that want a promotion, work abroad, crack competitive exams, and participate in events. Moreover, the level is helpful for students that want to attend international schools as it helps to crack panel and principle interviews or discussions.
● Advanced
The last level consists of reviewing English grammar up to the intermediate level and finding areas of improvement. After this, you should try out subjective forms, take quizzes, participate in grammar and tenses exercises.
Advanced English completes the journey of English grammar learners and makes them confident. Moreover, it diminishes dependency on online tools or experienced trainers for written and verbal communication.
Additionally, advanced English helps to gain high grades in competitive exams like IELTS, TOEFL, and GOE. However, people can even complete such a course to receive entire knowledge of the language and become self-sufficient.
FCE level learners also undergo elementary and pre-intermediate levels. The former includes imperative forms, sentences, possessions, question words, comparatives, superlatives, modal auxiliaries, future tense, present perfect tense, simple past tense, and irregular past participles.
Meanwhile, the pre-intermediate level of FCE includes qualifying expressions, compounds, articles, quantifiers, imperatives, present simple continuous tense, past simple and continuous tense, & present perfect simple and continuous tense. It will even include the future tense, auxiliary verbs, prepositions, adjectives, questions, reported speech, and passive voice. The three tiers may differ in Indian institutes that don’t follow the FCE structure. It can be learned as English grammar in Tamil too.
